| January 2009 | Ali Spuck's Audition Technique Master Class Ali is offering a class for university, high school and middle school students. It is an opportunity for students to sharpen their auditioning skills, create their best audition, and become creatively independent. This workshop is designed to give auditioning students the confidence to succeed in educational and professional theatre. There are two classes available: a basic, one-day (or one class period) class, or a more intensive two-day (or two class period) master class. Pasadena Playhouse Will Host Broadway-Bound Vanities Musical in 2008

Vanities, the new musical by composer-lyricist David Kirshenbaum
and Jack Heifner, based on his hit Off-Broadway play, will get a
pre-Broadway tryout at the Pasadena Playhouse in summer 2008. Kirshenbaum is known for the musicals Summer of '42 and Party Come Here. A fall 2008 Broadway opening is planned after the Pasadena run. California performances will play Aug. 22-Sept. 28, 2008 with the official opening on Aug. 29, 2008. Dates and venue for Broadway will be announced in 2008. The musical is based on the smash hit 1976 comedy (also called Vanities) that ran for 1,785 performances Off-Broadway. According to the Pasadena Playhouse, the show "chronicles the comic journey of three bubbly Texas teens from cheerleaders to sorority sisters to housewives, liberated women and beyond. This coming-of-age tale set in the '60s and '70s is a musical scrapbook of an era that had to be lived to be believed. Vanities offers a snapshot-sharp portrait of the lives, loves, disappointments, and dreams of best friends caught up in rapidly changing times."

Georgia Stitt (and a big thank you to Georgia) musical directed. Also performing were Jason Alexander, Dick Van Dyke, Vanessa Williams, Zachary Levi, the cast of Ugly Betty including Ana Ortiz, Mark Indelicato, and David Blue, Lea Thompson, William Shatner and the cast of Boston Legal, Victor Garber, and Steven Weber. A great evening for a wonderful cause: The Alzheimer's Association. Ali was so proud and honored to be involved.
